First Aid: Medical Information

Antibiotic Ointment: For minor skin infections.

Benadryl: (either liquid or capsule) For insect bites and allergies. Use 1 milligram per pound of (up to 50 mg).

Cotton Balls or Cotton Batting: For cleaning ears and applying ointments.

Eye Wash: For irritated eyes.

Hydrogen Peroxide: To induce vomiting. Use 1 tablespoon every 15 minutes until it works.

Ipecac Syrup: To induce vomiting. Use 1 teaspoon per 20 pounds of dog every four to six hours.

Kaopectate: For diarrhea. Use one spoonful for every 20 pounds of dog every four hours.

Pain Reliever: If you do not have a prescription, you can probably get by safely with buffered aspirin. Most bulldogs suffer no ill effects from its use. Use one tablet every eight hours.

Petroleum Jelly: To protect and lubricate his nose: also to lubricate the rectal thermometer.

Rectal Thermometer: Get one made for dogs. Lubricate the thermometer with petroleum jelly and insert GENTLY: hold for about two to three minutes. Be sure you hang onto the end of the thermometer so you do not let it disappear. Normal temperature ranges from about 100.5F to about 102F.

Styptic Powder: To stop bleeding from inadvertent cuts during nail trimming.
