I have been around dogs for almost forty years and all of my bullies are hand raised with dignity and respect.
Most of my bullies come from the Dowats champion bloodline, or from Sr. Charles Henry champion bloodline. Each dog gets personalized attention and training from me every day.
My dogs know that I am the pack leader, and behave very well for bulldogs. They have learned my hand signals, and they have a daily routine they follow. Each new puppy is with me long enough to become satisfactorily socialized, and learn most of the pack routine which makes them very suitable for the next family.
The kennel is sanitized several times a day, and I feed the best of food. I take very good care of my dogs to maximize prevention of health issues. Because of my diligence, my dogs are healthy and rarely visit the Vet.
Most breeders sell quality pet bulldogs for between $1400 - $2000. Small litters, cost of C-Sections for the mother, and 24 hour monitoring of new litters result in a costly investment for the breeder.
C-sections for bulldogs are required for several reasons like: high rates of water puppies which can't pass through the birth canal, large head and shoulders of the puppies, stress and heat factors may cause a bulldog trouble, and the ability to "PUSH" out a full litter is often too much on a bulldog. It is very time consuming compared to other breeds where every thing is taken care of by the male and female dog including the birth and delivery and raising of the litter.
Then when a litter is born most of the time they must be hand helped when fed. A breeder will provide 24 hour care of the new litter for several days. Bulldogs don't make the best mothers because they may lay on a puppy by accident and not even realize it.
The bulldog is a special breed which requires the help of humans until a litter is about 8 weeks of age. They are worth every penny and once you have been owned by bulldog, you can never again be without one.
